About Us
Mr. Nice Guys Bodega & Beyond started with a simple idea: bring an old-school, family-owned smoke and head shop to Downtown Melbourne, and make it a place people actually enjoy visiting.
Richard and Karen DeSane opened the original Mr. Nice Guys in 2020 at 905 E. New Haven Avenue. What started as an 1,800-square-foot neighborhood smoke shop quickly became something much bigger.
By our fourth year, we were practically bursting at the seams. At the same time, we saw something Downtown Melbourne was missing: a true neighborhood bodega and convenience store where locals, downtown workers, and visitors could grab everyday essentials, snacks, drinks, and unique finds without leaving downtown.
Around that time, our son Wyatt joined the business, bringing another dimension to Mr. Nice Guys Bodega & Beyond through his talent for glass blowing.
A Bigger Store & a Bigger Vision
In 2026, we found the perfect opportunity to grow just down the street at 800 E. New Haven Avenue, at the corner of Waverly and East New Haven in Downtown Melbourne.
Our new 2,800-square-foot location gives us roughly 1,000 additional square feet and allows us to turn Mr. Nice Guys into what we always envisioned: Mr. Nice Guys Bodega & Beyond.
The front half of the store is a family-friendly, full-service convenience store and bodega featuring snacks, drinks, grab-and-go items, everyday essentials, Florida souvenirs and gifts, fun and unusual finds, and some of the latest viral products everyone is talking about.
Our 21+ section in the back keeps everything our longtime customers know and love about a great old-school head shop, while giving us room to take the experience even further.
More Than a Store
One of the things we’re most excited about is bringing Wyatt’s glass blowing front and center. Visitors will be able to see live glass blowing, and we plan to offer hands-on glass blowing lessons in our 21+ area.
We’re also creating a place where Downtown Melbourne can come together. Our plans include open mic nights, local performers and entertainment, along with a comfortable 21+ consumption lounge where customers can sit back, relax, and enjoy eligible products purchased from the store.

As we expand our hours into the late night and grow what we offer, we’re excited to bring new employees into the Mr. Nice Guys family as well.

Mr. Nice Guys Bodega and Beyond was established in October 2020 as a family-owned and operated business by Richard and Karen DeSane, along with their son Wyatt and their dog Molly.
When Rich first opened the doors in 2020, the goal was to create a true old-school head shop, a vision they successfully captured and continue to celebrate to this day. In 2025, the team recognized a growing need for a convenience store in downtown Melbourne. This led the DeSane family to thoughtfully pivot their business, introducing a bodega while preserving the heart and integrity of their original head shop.
A bodega is a small, neighborhood convenience store that offers snacks, drinks, household essentials, and everyday items in a friendly, community-focused setting.
Today, Mr. Nice Guys Bodega & Beyond is more than just a convenience store. We proudly maintain our old-school head shop roots while bringing in a wide selection of snacks, beverages, and fun, unique items that downtown businesses and residents were missing.

The merch from clothes, buds, stickers, edibles, and so forth are priced well and the staff will guide you on the products without hassle. All the other local shops are set up like a convenience stores a 7/11 for smokers not this place.
